The composition itself is pretty solid, maybe the problem has to do with the arrangement. I didn’t like the gugak element either, but I didn’t hate it as much. If you watch Totoga Season 1, he was asking Haha to skip that song when they played it in the karaoke room. I think Su Won can’t even sing it he didn’t have parts either. I think all fans know it’s the members’ least favorite song. The biggest surprise from the concert has got to be Hakwon Byeolguk. But I did splurge on a light stick and tumbler. But since I’m without a job, I couldn’t afford too many items. Anyway, the popular items were sold out on the first day – the T-shirts and key ring etc. It was so bad that at one point, I thought about canceling the trip. I really wanted to be there early for the concert merchandise but I couldn’t make it. I read online blog accounts by veteran kpop fans about attending concerts in Seoul to prepare myself. I was following every news by them ahead of the trip. I felt really blessed to be able to attend their Yellow Note concert. It’s music from their generation – and that’s how they felt, I thought. I can’t describe the feeling, but it made me understand why my parents love listening to their oldies.
Watching the third episode, I was as affected as everyone, especially when I heard them sing Couple, with Ko Ji Yong no less. Like most fans, I didn’t think I would live to see this. I wanted to watch all three episodes together, and I waited patiently. It was a painful but all worth it. And I couldn’t wait to see it! But the third Infinite Challenge episode won’t air until April 30, and the subbed episodes will only show up in May. Then I read about their reunion and thought of Couple. I knew they would probably sing this because it was a hit song by them. I still listen to their songs on my Cowon C2 occasionally, and I was curious what the article was about. They shut their online store not too long after and I switched over to .įast forward to April 2016, I stumbled upon a news piece about Sechskies while surfing the net.
I remembered my first Korean CD (Il Mare OST) which I’d bought from, a US-based site probably run by Korean Americans. Because to Sechskies, I started listening to more Kpop and my faves those days were Kangta, J-Walk, UN, and Toy. I remembered listening to Couple, Say and Missing You on repeat mode.
It was only a few years later that I managed to get my hands on another compilation album by them, another Taiwan edition CD. There weren’t too many online stores selling Korean albums either. YouTube wasn’t around then and I couldn’t find much information on Sechskies, except the fact that the group had already disbanded. Japanese dramas and idols ruled and they were still pretty much the ‘in’ thing. It made me want to hear more Sechskies music, but Kpop wasn’t popular outside Korea.
